CASA HOGAR LOS ANGELITOS OPEN HOUSE AND GOLF TOURNAMENT 2007
February 3, 2007 was a night to remember for the children of the Casa Hogar los
Angelitos and those that attended the 9th annual Casa Hogar los Angelitos Open
House. Three young women celebrated their quinceañera, (a ceremony
recognizing their journey from childhood to maturity upon turning 15) as they
were escorted to the stage for the traditional dances. After lots of searching
for just the right gowns, they decided that they wanted their gowns to match and
in doing so, the sister relationship was sealed. They were stunning. Made you
want to be 15 again.
The silent auction, headed by Joyce Murphy, proved to be a highlight for
shoppers who were looking for that something special. Her entire committee did
a wonderful job of displaying and selling the items.
The awards for the 1st Annual Golf Tournament were given to the lucky teams by
Pat Martin, coordinator of the golfing event. Recognition was also given to
those persons and business that co-sponsored the event. It was great to see the
Mexican community participate in this event.
We were honored to have The Colima Folkloric Ballet perform again this year. It
was evident to everyone why they have traveled the world to perform. We cannot
thank their director, Junanito enough for all this coordination.
Truly one of the emotional highlights of the evening was the classical ballet
performance of the young Lupita, Flora, Emigdia and Laura, as well as the
excellent show provided by the casa hogar chorus, musicians and folkloric
dancers. The education and development of the children is one of the major
goals of the casa hogar program and this event provided a special showcase for
the children to show their accomplishments.
The date has been set for next year event. Mark your calendar now for,
Saturday, February 2nd, 2008, and prepare yourself for a secret performance. You won't
want to miss this night.

CASA HOGAR 2006 OPEN HOUSE
Those who were unable to attend the Casa Hogar Open House, which was held on Saturday, February 4, 2006 missed a wonderful event. Thanks to all the hard work of Diana and Steve Stout along with their open house committee and the casa hogar staff this year’s open house was the best yet. The spectacular event of the evening was the riveting performance of the University of Colima Folkloric Ballet. However, the part of the program that truly touched hearts of those in attendance was the presentation of 15 year old Bertha. Bertha came to the casa hogar in 1996 with her sister Carmelita at the age of 5 and 4 respectively, and what a joy to see her, the young woman she has grown into, being escorted by four of the boys from the casa hogar and then gracefully dancing the “waltz” of the “quinceañera”.
Everyone who has participated in these years and witnessed the growth of the children was delighted to see the first “public” performance of the “casa hogar band” consisting of Rodrigo on the electric piano, Alejandra on drums, and Artemio on base guitar, followed by seven of our girls dancing two beautiful folkloric dances that they had been studying for more than two months. Rodrigo and a new member of the casa hogar family, Anabel, brought tears to many eyes as they gave short testimonies of their lives before coming to the casa hogar.
This event was the talk of the town for several weeks. We are excited for next years event scheduled for Saturday, February 3, 2007. You will not want to miss it! Watch for more information in the winter newsletter for your opportunity to purchase tickets for the 2007 Open House.

CASA HOGAR LOS ANGELITOS OPEN HOUSE 2005
February 5, 2005 The Casa Hogar opened their doors and hearts to people in the community, supporters, well wishers and contributors with a spectacular "Thank You" Mexican fiesta. This annual event has become an event that is looked forward to by those who have participated each year. This years event was coordinated by Diana and Steve Stout along with their volunteer committee, and proved to be the best yet.
The highlight of the evening was little four year old Lupita singing all the verses of the song "Mochila Azul" accompanied by the Mariachi group Arriba Jalisco. All of the children participated in singing and folkloric dancing. However, when 6 year old Christian climbed on the stage and danced with such unabashed enthusiasm that the crowd was overwhelmed. Azareel, Alejandra and Brenda played one of their melodies on the violin. Benjamin and Brenda both spoke from their hearts to audience regarding their appreciation of the support and love of those who have helped them in their lives.
The silent auction and food was fantastic and people seemed to enjoy every part of the program. There were approximately 300 people who came in support of the Casa Hogar. Thank you!
